Violating New York City’s Construction Codes and Zoning Resolution puts people at risk and undermines our quality of life. The Department enforces the City’s Administrative Code and Zoning Resolution to protect our quality of life and prevent dangerous conditions.

The Quality of Life (QL) Unit conducts field inspections in response to illegal conversion complaints (Category 45 and 71). We inspect the premises for potentially hazardous conditions and issue vacate ordes for non-compliance. If there is No Access, an Access Warrant is obtained, and NYPD is contacted to assist the Department Inspector in the execution of the warrant.
